Following the General Assembly, the Conference for Heads of Schools was conducted in a hybrid format from March 14 to March 15. This Conference brought together school leaders who have served their institutions for less than three (3) years. The themes allowed them to better understand their roles as school leaders, which is especially important during these trying times. The event also provided an opportunity for attendees to explore their fiduciary obligation, as well as some topics of leadership and management, as well as stress management in the workplace.
The first session opened with a panel discussion titled “On Being President/Principal: Challenges and Opportunities,” and featured the following invited panelists:
Dr. Lidya Tandirerung, President, STT INTIM, Makassar, Indonesia
Rev. Lal Rin Awma, Principal, Tahan Theological College, Kalaymyo, Myanmar
The invited speakers tackled the following topics:
“The Seminary and the Church: The Role of the President/Principal in Relationship Building” with Dr. Eleuterio Revollido, the Rector of Aglipay Central Theological Seminary in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, Philippines
“Leadership and Governance” with Atty. Peter Irving Corvera, Corporate Lawyer, Former Undersecretary, Department of Interior and Local Government, Republic of the Philippines
“Risk Management” with Dr. Rowena Liboon, Dean, School of Graduate Studies, Central Philippine University
“Stress Management for Seminary Administrators” with Japhet Gensaya-Fernandez de Leon, MD, FPPA, FPSCAP, Fellow, Philippine Psychiatric Association
Onsite attendees were divided into groups to explore the risks, problems, and hopes they face at their respective institutions, as well as how ATESEA may help member schools.
