ATESEA Executive Director joins BTESSC Meeting in Hyderabad

The Board of Theological Education of the Senate of Serampore College (BTESSC) invited  Dr. Limuel Equina, the ATESEA Executive Director,  to participate in its meeting on February 2-6, 2016 in Hyderabad, India as part of ATESEA’s collaborative effort with BTESSC. It was attended by the 53 member schools of BTESSC under the Senate of Serampore College.

The meetings had two parts: firstly, the BTESSC Meeting and, secondly, the Senate of Serampore Meeting. During the BTESSC meeting, Dr Amele Ekue, Executive Secretary of the Ecumenical Theological Education of the World Council of Churches (ETE/WCC) presented a paper on the “Being on the Road Together: Transformative Theological Education and the Future of the Ecumenical Movement.” Dr. Equina was one of the respondents to the said paper presentation. He also greeted the participants on behalf of ATESEA and presented the highlights of the Association’s programs. The plenary, then, decided to consider, if not copy ATESEA’s Teachers’ Academy with emphasis on teaching methodologies and assessments. Reports of the ongoing programs and plans of BTESSC were also discussed.

Dr. Equina also attended the Senate meeting, where issues on curricula of the Senate of Serampore College were deliberated. The Executive Director also had the chance to meet with the staff who is assigned to the Asia Journal of Theology (AJT) publication. They talked on matters related to the operation of the journal. Moreover,  PTCA (Program for Theology and Culture in Asia) Study Series No. 11  entitled “Martha and Mary: Juxtapositional Reading from the Margin’s Perspectiv.” has been released during the meeting. This is a Th.D thesis submitted by Kapi M. Ching to SEAGST.
