ATESEA Board members meet in Singapore
The ATESEA Board met on December 11, 2018 at Trinity Theological College, Singapore to hear reports and act on matters for the interest of the Association.
The Executive Director updated the Board on the conferences conducted by ATESEA from May 2018 onward: 1) Conference for Theological Librarians at STT Jakarta on May 22-25, 2018; 2) ATU Doctoral Colloquium in July 2-5, 2018 at Lutheran Theological Seminary in Hong Kong; 3) Teachers’ Academy on October 22-25, 2018 at Bangkok Christian Guest House, Thailand; and 3) Conference for Women on November 27-29, 2018 at Bangkok Christian Guest House, Thailand.
He also reported on his visits to the schools and meetings with administrators and partners.
Dr. HS Wilson was also present to update the members on the focus of the FTESEA Board. Among them include the policy on grants and the present priorities of FTESEA which are faculty development, library development and women leadership.
The Board also reviewed and acted on the recommendations of the teams that conducted the accreditation visit to sixteen (16) schools in Indonesia on September 9-16, 2018 and a special accreditation visit to Kachin Theological College in Kutkai, Myanmar on November 21-24, 2018.
The Board also deliberated on the future shape of ATU from being a degree granting institution to a Center of Research (CORE). Being in its birthing process, the board brainstormed on the role of ATU that assists the Center in offering special doctoral programs, seminars on a specific area of discipline and as a place for scholars to do research and sabbatical.
