ATESEA reps visit theological colleges in Toronto, Canada

ATESEA reps visit theological colleges in Toronto, Canada

Dr. Ngoei Foong Nghian and Dr. Limuel Equina visited the theological colleges under the Toronto School of Theology consortium program on October 13-14, 2015.

The FTESEA with the assistance of Dr. Dorcas Gordon, Principal of Knox College, organized a visit to Knox College, Emmanuel College, Trinity College, and Wycliff College. The Toronto School of Theology is under the University of Toronto. The theological colleges shared with the ATESEA and Nanjing Union Theological Seminary (NJUTS) representatives their current degree program offerings and focus, nature of governance, teaching methodology and possibility of partnership in the future. Conversely, the ATESEA representatives gave them some updates on the Association and ATU programs. Likewise, the NJUTS representatives shared their own current initiatives and challenges of theological education in China. In the conversation, the schools are open to the possibility for doctoral students in Asia to cross enroll in the Toronto School of Theology for a semester. The degree programs of the Toronto School of Theology are conferred by the University of Toronto.

The ATESEA representatives also met with the representatives of the United Church of Canada and the Presbyterian Church in Canada. The latter presented their ministries in Canada and overseas and some potential areas for partnership.
